Live On

Contributed by shereal_14 on Tuesday, 24th February 2015 @ 11:09:47 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Today a blanket of sadness covers me
In my mind it is your face that I see
A day of joy and sorrow that in my heart and soul will never leave
Your spirit shall live on in your daughters three

Even in death your soul has left its mark
The love you had for me still sits squarely on my heart
They all say I need to let you go but I can't even begin to start
Not even on the day that from this world I, too, must depart

Daddy I miss you more than my words can begin to convey
Why did you have to leave me; why couldn't you stay?
No longer can I keep these wretched tears at bay
But in my grief the Lord instilled in me wisdom along the way
The knowledge that I will be with you once again on Judgment Day

I know it can be tough. My dad died when I was 8. I'm 61 now. Don't listen to the people that say you have to let him go. The ones we care about that pass away will always be with us in our hearts.

Sorry to hear about your loss but you penned a beautiful poem for him. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Tim

Very lovely and heartfelt poem! Before I got to the end, i got choked up. That means you were able to reach out with this and touch my soul. Very sorry for your loss, just keep the loved one in your heart and carry happiness and love with those memories.

Great write, keep on writing, it helps you to find peace within.

Wayne
