Desire for the Past

Contributed by the_unknown on Thursday, 19th February 2015 @ 01:50:14 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

What curse is in the binding of my mind?
A curse of simple misfortune
A curse of society
A curse of being reborn again too late
I don't belong to this time

Give me back to the time when
Humans roamed the mountain sides and
Thrived from the gifts of life
When all was just sticks and stones
When all held a connection to the earth close to their heart
Give me back to the clean air, clean water, and wild beasts

I curse the present time of human existence
I question why I was born in this time
To see the earth crippled
A greater purpose, perhaps
To try and do my part to save her
That is my calling for now
As my soul recalls the times of a past life, yearning to return

I like this. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You yearn for what lies within us all. It may well have been a harder existence, but it was the natural way. The best we can hope for is to live in the countryside, as far from the concrete madness and neon nonsense as we can be. Don't worry about the planet, it will be here, doing just fine, long after we are returned to dust.

Yes, please. Take me to the past. You took me there. Thanks.

Best,
FOX

I'm with you.
Its like you read my mind.
Longing for the past can derail our future but many do it. Great read!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
