Jailbreak

Contributed by xHeathenx on Wednesday, 18th February 2015 @ 02:35:18 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Bricks and mortar painted over
Iron gates and bars as far
As the I and eye can see
Stretching up, and to the sides

The home we know is this
A prison of substantial size
How many souls are kept here?
Thousands? Millions? Maybe billions?

I sit on my cot, gazing at the walls
Hoping my brain not rot, imminent decay
In this, my captive hall
My personal sentence amongst them all

But through my walls I can see
One other soul, bearing identical plight
For days I watch her timid figure
And empathize, no-sympathize, with her demeanor

I notice her look my way
I wish she could notice
But still, how she stares
These moments seem hopeful, inspirational

I whisper "Quite lovely."
I hear an answer whispered back
"I couldn't agree more."
Immediately I stand as she does the same

Now it's become apparent
For us, these walls are transparent!
We have been watching one another
Hopes disguised as hallucinations

I walk towards the wall and I see her do the same
The walls between us, parting way
Every brick rolling, along a hinge
Granting sight of the former fringe

We quickly approach and share an embrace
Look into the eyes of each other
To find that for once, this place has to offer
A sight of beauty, all worthwhile

All pain, misery, isolation
Now reimbursed
By this incredible soul
My newfound mirth

These silent halls, with metal bars
Had once kept us solitary
But now we can escape together
And live outside these walls
