Who are you I ask,
And what do you want from us?
Sir tell me please, what is your task
Bringing in these machines only leaving dust
We are a peaceful people that much is true,
But you come with guns to tell us there is nothing we can do
You take our land abuse us and tell us to work for you?
I am forced to, or you say my love will get a bullet and my child will get two

Short, bittersweet, and straight to the point. It's certainly refreshing to see that some don't approve of the consumerist society we've come to know and blindly loll about in.
Of course to say consumerism, capitalism, commercialism is bad will quickly be responded to with immediate disdain and attempts to discredit your statement or argument.
Regardless I have to say, good poem, and good message. A grim reminder of our world, and the parts of it that exist, that we don't see. |
