Strength

Contributed by Beyfoxman5 on Thursday, 12th February 2015 @ 07:05:38 PM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Why are you here, and what is your purpose?
The answer to this question and its tools sit way below the surface

You have been kicked around, bruised, battered, your very core left bleeding
But here you are so apparent in the present, there has to be a reason

The past was real, and you look to the sky
Arms outstretched, you yell,

One word, so much-

WHY?

Drop the knife, the answer isn't to cut it
You were given this life because you have the strength to live it!

The first two lines, every time, make me think of a song, "You create the reason" by Forest for the Trees.
After hearing it, it made much more sense for me.

I realized one day, I lost all motivation, drive, energy to do anything after graduating high school. It wasn't long after. Then, I said to my boss at work, "Sometimes life feels meaningless, like there's no reason."
He said "There is a reason, you give it to your self."

It sounded like nonsense to me, much in the same way people say things like God does this or that, but if something bad happens, the only answer is "God works in mysterious ways".
But I listened to the song, and it made more sense to me. I think that that idea, that mentality, and the message here in this poem, work so well together, mean so much, and are quite possibly two essential things to make one's life ultimately enjoyable, and worth living.

But the poem itself here, has a strength in and of itself. It makes me think of a freed slave, treated of wounds and injuries, or of (I forget which philosopher's)cave analogy. Keep the strength as well, for it shows in your work fox. :)

I like this best for its positivity. Well done, Bey. I need to read more of your fun.
