Take the drink that's in the right hand
Or eat the pills that's in the left.
To scream aloud in certain madness
Would it fall on the ears of the deaf?
Jump head first into the darkness
Of what seems to be a bottomless hole.
Soak in the warmth of today's sunshine
And roll with life's ebb and flow.
Treading relentlessly in a sea of self pity
Drug to the bottom by misery's weight.
Kicking, paddling and battling to shore
Drowning isn't written into the book of fate.
At every turn we are faced with decisions
That will effect the outcome of life
It's ok if we chose wrong sometimes
As long as we continue to fight.
Fight for what we believe is right
Be persistent in everything that we do
Live life with attitude and conviction
Regardless of circumstance we soldier through.

A surprising change of mood through the poem. What starts at making me think of the red and blue pill, turns into a hopeless miserable world, and even then into an inspirational empowerment of choice, be it wrong or right. Continue on, continue the fight, the fight of time, of the future's unwind.
The feeling left in the chest at the end I would say, is comparable to what I would imagine a group of soldiers feel after a memorable speech from the commanding officer.
Great read. :) |
