anguished
|
Nothingness in sight, belongings un-admired.
A chair, a desk, an array of boringly colored pens,
Quills aiding in expression.
A barren cell, quarrelsome nature,
Poorly insulated confines, clouded mind.
Dutifully aching, walls of protection,
Hours stretching, frenzied emotions.
Harshly treated nature, plants un-watered,
Existing merely to exist, they too seem bored.
Malaise ever so pronounced, aching torture.
Bookshelf filled with fiction, information overhaul.
A lexicon open to interpretation, kindly presented.
Dust settling gently, ever so calmly, envious, even of it, bitter host to all.
It’s so damn cold.

I absolutely loved the flow of this. Very well written and deeply moving. |

I think very few people have ever experienced such an overwhelming feeling of boredom. Your poem encompasses what it's like to be completely dispassionate to everything, and I really appreciate the way it's written so that you can feel the apathy dripping off of every word.
I like how you mentioned that even dust has the luxury of being everywhere, and therefore open to experience anything of note. |
