The girl that fears the world.

Topic: DarkPoetry

Deep down I know it hides,
Her fear, her tears, her emotion, her pain
She hold back the cries.
She hold back the excruciating emotion of life.
How She feels, how She goes about life.

Why?
We are all going to die.
Why do we have to look like the skinny girls in magazines,
why do guys need to have muscular build.
Why do we need to pretend to be who we are not.

The pressure of trying to be who everyone wishes you to be.
Look in the mirror, what do you see?
I see, a girl.... She's 19 going on 20.
She's ugly, she's not what society wants.
She feels worthless.
Alone.
Afraid of the world.
Afraid to be happy.
Afraid to be proud.
Ashamed.
Ashamed of what she sees.

The blood that runs through these veins.
It's not red, it's not pure. but dark.
Dark just the way she sees the world.
Heart is broken. Soul is empty.
You will never know how she truly feels.
What she's holding back.
What she wants to say.
The anger and sadness she leaves hidden from the world.

What you see is a smile.
A smile that is full of tears.
There is no happiness beneath the smile.
There is no light. Only darkness.
Her heart black. Black blood runs through her veins.
She wants to love. She wants to feel happiness.
But in her world happiness does not exist.
Appearances to withhold. Not great enough she knows.
Never good enough, she try's.
A failure she feels.

She sees no good. She sees nothing beautiful.
Looks upon a mirror, picks out all her faults.
Can't stand what she see, she wants it all gone.
Scratch and rip away all the fat.
Cover what's called a face in make up.
Starves herself to hunger, she needs to loose the weight.
She needs to be size 8.
Do you think she's beautiful now?
Is she pretty enough for you now?
Is she skinny enough now?

No one sees just how she really feels.
She hides it all, this is for real.
What do you think of the girl now?
Do you think she's crazy?
A depressed mess?
No. She's human.
She's fighting.
She fights back the suicidal thoughts.
She fights the urge to cut herself again.

She's just a girl. A girl who try's to fit in this messed up world.

I often think society is misguided in what it prizes the most.
True, why does every woman need to be a size 8 or every man need to have muscles the size of the Incredible Hulk.
What kind of crazy world is it where a footballer is worth millions and someone who finds a cure for a terrible disease is barely worth a mention?
I don't think I will ever understand this world and you have reminded me of that fact. Then again, do I really need to understand it?

Steve
