Hello My Dear Friend

You see me as a memory
says that bewildered look upon your face
I have been a long time gone
but still among the human race
The visions in your mind
of that person I used to be
They create a bit of confusion
now that you again see me
Realization comes to mind
as I stand there looking at you
Stunned without words to say
wondering what you should say or do
I speak to you in a voice
a much older voice than many years ago
Your first words are
if I didn't believe it, I wouldn't say it’s so
Long lost friends
having so many good times back in the day
Eventually took separate paths
that led us so far away
However it may be, my friend
I stand before you, here today
Even though it has been many years
I never once allowed our friendship to stray
The look on your face once again
a big smile stretching between your ears
We walk off together
making more memories to last many more years
