Seashell Eyes.
Today my eyes are shells
Oceanic and wide
With the clean lines of a blue sky
Trailing petticoats of sails
Along the horizon.
Made serene and sleepy
By the long curl of sea unfolding
Onto the whispering sand.
But alive and wild too
In that no mans land between sky
And ocean
Where the gulls on tilted wings
Thrash and twist
Above the grey green water
Crying and shrieking
Until my head rattles with the noise.
Today my eyes are shells
Picked clean and left smooth
By the inquisitive beaks of ravenous gulls.

You never fail to paint a very vivid picture with your words. Excellent!
Those last couple of lines had to hurt a little though. ;-) |

Wow... top notch !!!
seashell eyes, I feel like picking up a couple seashells and poking tiny holes with which to sea out of
just so I could write a poem as good as this one is.
Peace! |

Wow......seems like an understatement to just say wow but I guess that's the immediate effect this had one me.
Like a lot of poems I read here, I was drawn in by the title.
Have to say I wasn't disappointed!!
Great work
