Bogart

Contributed by JamesStockdale on Wednesday, 21st January 2015 @ 09:32:28 AM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

I was your leading man
Prestigious star of stage and screen

From Paris to Spain
Casablanca
Key Largo

I traveled the world
Shined brighter then any star
My persona of a man
Grew ten feet tall

The women of Hollywood
Princesses and Queens
And all in-between

I lead them all
I was their man
They could not escape
The grip of my hand

I could have had them
One and all
Had three before
I married Bacall

My ego
Outshined my fame
Never ever
Will you forget my name

Although I'm gone
Vanished from this land
My work lives on
As I planned

Indeed! Not sure he planned it, but he did control any scene he was ever in. Larger than life, a man man and a women's man as well.
I'm quite sure Lauren was all any man could handle!
Didn't know about his ego, was it big or small? Perhaps a ham actor is just born that way. Yet I feel as though he was that way in real life as well.

Peace!

Nice trip down Memory Lane with old Bogie. I was watching the African Queen just the other day. Gotta love old Charlie. Guess a few others did, it won him an Oscar. Guess his ego was a bit on the large side too, because he did win the Sour Apple for the least co-operative actor. Thanks, enjoyed.

Oh wow. I didn't realize you meant Humphrey Bogart. Haha.
Unless that is of course, it serves a metaphor, because in that case, it does represent a dangerously-large ego, but even still, confidence and self-respect are not as common, not as strong as they should be these days. At least for a lot of us. I loved it though. To picture the ego, so prestigious, like the achievements of the man, to have the feeling upon reading it, as if I could be that person, just for a moment, even only to myself, and only in my mind, would be truly breathtaking. :)

// "Of All The Gin Joints In All The Towns In All The World, She Walks Into Mine."

No /*****/, right?!?!?!

Love it, Jimmy.
