I Miss You Daddy

Contributed by waynster on Tuesday, 20th January 2015 @ 02:50:55 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Hello daddy
I was sitting here thinking of you tonight
I looked at a photo of you
and tears came without a fight

I remember back in the day
when we would argue and fight
You were much older
I should have known it wasn't right

I just never realized
how much I would miss you
But tonight your photo struck a nerve
so shedding some tears is what I had to do

How I wish we stayed friends
from my childhood to your latter days
We could have shared laughter and love
because you were my father, loving me in so many ways

You were very proud of me
tried telling me so many times, when you were here
For some reason we couldn't get along
and it burdened your heart with fear

You were afraid I did not love you
but you need to know that is not true
I loved you very much
I wish I could tell you in person, but that, I cannot do

So listen to me from the heavens
as these few precious words I have to say
I love and miss you very much
I think of you every single day

A beautiful tribute, regret is a powerful thing and we all have our share, but I believe your dad knows you loved him even if the words weren't spoken.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
