“Oh”, chuckle, chuckle, harrumph and what not,
“why, those dastardly so n' soze have the anti-jamming
device that negates
our anti-anti-jamming device-
Why, this won't do at all!”
“IF they have that and we don't...
why....won't that mean they have the upper hand?”
Gasp!
“Our LAND, our way of life-
out in a blink- we must have that device!”
Prepare, brave lads and lasses;
your country demands your blood-
both sides in fact, require it-
enemy, frienemy, no matter-
just splatter and red
to keep in the black.

oh yes, indeed. Excellent message here and written well.
We aren't thinking enough about what's real, and right there in front of our eyes, actual reality.
I just listened to one of the Massey Lectures MLK Jr gave on NPR - each Sat they will have one, a total of five, that were given in Canada and originally broadcast on the CBC. http://mlk-kpp01.stanford.edu/index.php/encyclopedia/encyclopedia/enc_trumpet_of_conscience_the_1968/
If men and women of good will would focus on the reality of all the problems we have now perhaps we could change outcomes here at home instead of filling all our overcrowded prisons.
Instead of sending young people to war, we could change the world without being thought of as the number one perpetrator of war.
Peace! |

The last stanza made me want to cry. Very powerful words and love the sarcasm in this write.
I don't agree with your author's note but still like the poem.
War is ugly, war is hate. Unfortunately, sometimes I feel it is necessary as we can't all just be idle and stand by. |
