The Pastor's Parting Grasp

How funny I find men,
(Oh, fear not, fairer sex, I shan't exclude!);
how many times, now and then,
the smiles of Sunday morn,
(when even birds sing praise)
come Monday na' a one exude.
No Wednesday handshake any less firm
than the Pastor's parting grasp on churchly steps;
though, in confession (as we must confess),
the warmth of perceived brotherhood,
though short and forlorn shorn,
does envelope nonetheless.

An interesting one. Very true, we won't find the fellowship we have in church out in the world. That's why I treasure my time with my church family, as I call them, because they're that close. May our light shine before men as Jesus said it should,

Another Jewel Mike
I think you're too advanced for the basic reader.
Your poems require thought. Sometimes that
requires one to stop and think. I'm a fan.
Got me thinking |
