Laughter Makes It All Taste Better

Contributed by odessa19 on Wednesday, 14th January 2015 @ 11:39:42 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

You're either bored to death, or
you are drowning in the mundane tasks that have you wound up like a banshee on Halloween night.

Then you think "but it's my time to shine!" Wrong.

It's your time to wake up and break the cycle.
Jump ship. Go for the door, window or nearest exit.

"No one gets out alive"?
Then you better start living.

Just blink and it's gone.
Like a vibrant flash.

That moment when you stare into the laser light and lose all hope of ever seeing life clearly again.

Don't suck it up, you'll choke.

Try sipping on life. It goes down better - and if you're lucky you won't burn your tongue.

Enjoy.

Find a mentor. No, find ten.
Hell, if you're lucky - they'll find you!

Be that person to give a damn about someone else.

But, don't invest too much!
Just give them encouragement, hope and a list of possibilities.

Don't let things get too real.

A couple things that come to mind: "When keeping it real goes wrong" and from stand-up comedian Bill Hicks, "It's just a ride..." Which, if you haven't had the pleasure of hearing, I suggest you do.
I have a nihilistic outlook in terms of reality, but when it comes to people, I generally have a pretty humanistic way to look at things. I've given selflessly, loved unconditionally, and even sacrificed my own happiness for others. I've come to realize, while a heart of good may be a beautiful thing, it's a heavy load to bear. I've done better at learning to know what conditions to have when it comes to love, who to give selflessly to, for risk of being taken advantage of, and knowing that sometimes, when it comes down to it, only person will be happy. And, while it may be cruel in thought, in reality, it's only fair if you out yourself first sometimes, since some of those people you do it with, would do that same thing a majority of the time.
Good poem, good humor, and I love the line "Don't suck it up, you'll choke."

You tell the tale of a person who sucks up others unhappiness like a vacuum! So you keep your distance… give advice from afar…don't let it get too real! Don't invest too much..
It is a practical ploy when one loves too fast and too hard. Yes, I agree..sip. It lasts longer!
Wonderful analogy of drinking in life! well done and very entertaining to read. Full of refreshing ideas and just a pinch of sarcasm to season the wisdom of it all. This is not an appetizer--this is a 5 course meal!
Thank you! softerware
