I'll admit as much to you-
those I know so well but not at all-
my wife of late took to work-
left me to my own devices-
(my years of flimsy reeds..stabilities [bless she] need)-
she should know better, dammit-
I'm not one to be left alone,
But she doesn't....so ram it,
that blessing fallow in a concrete hold.
A stew I am, simmering always
but she minds the pot of me,
blindly stirring as required
to keep splatters (mine) at bay-
a shimmering net even she holds unawares,
ignorant of sway-
beauty, ah, my beauty, knowing not in silent smiling flay.
To curtail (and only I can tell and fail)
her power is to castrate and doom me
to the deepest valley of aught redeem;
National Geographic (Times Square, for all I care)
determined- (even then, yes)
to make me a clown fish,
the more to render I a dream.

I love your admission! And of course your wandering thoughts on being left to your own devices!! I think Zsa Zsa Gabor said it best " Men, are like fires--left alone, they tend to go out."
You may play, but from the tone of your devotion, I doubt you will stray! Should you happen to get into a fix, I leave you a quick resolution: No man was ever shot while doing the dishes.

I like when I read one of your writes and it feels like it was born close to home. I am a fan of writing from the heart, and not for the masses. This feels like one of those heartfelt poems to me. There seems to be a bit of a veil in the way, but I see you peeking through. :)
Keep it up!
P.s Way to 'think outside the box'. Okay, I'm done.

A lack of empathy is so frustrating, but ultimately we have to stir our own stew. No-one knows the 'I', but the 'I' , no matter how physically close they become. A real gut-opener. Bravo! |

Personal, powerful, this packs a punch. Gosh, there is no way I could even think for a second of phrasing things the way you just did.
