pasting a smile

I force a smile for everyone to see
I even lie to myself, so they'll let me be
The lies that I've told have doubled in size
where not even I can see the pain in my eyes

I walk to school with a single hope
that sooner rather than later I'll know where to go
But everyday as I walk through my door
I think to myself that I'm looking for more

Every night something gives in
my heart cries for mercy on a single whim
It releases all the pain, all of the doubt
I finally crawl into bed and whimper throughout

The next morning it happens all over again
I paste on a smile for my family and friends
I go through the same crap each day
willing my heart to not break and sway

Excellent write, felt emotions I really didn't want too took me back to a dark place. Sad but beautiful imagery, thanks for sharing
