Epitaph

Contributed by hauntedscorp on Thursday, 18th December 2014 @ 11:45:35 AM in AEST
Topic: BirthdayPoems

Someone committed suicide on my birthday.
The ***** did it on purpose.
Stealing the spotlight away
Ruining my special day.
It was my sweet sixteenth,
She leapt from the 16th or 17th floor
(Who can remember anymore)
With cross in her drunken hand
She took her last stand,
Not before her spiteful message
To me.
The birthday girl, not so sweet,
A little salty, mostly sour,
That *****!
Couldn't wait another hour?
Just one more reason to hate my birth.
What the fudge is my purpose on Earth?

this seems written in a way more personal way than
someone of your own age with a vendetta, like
maybe a relative? either way it is not your fault nor
responsibility to carry the guilt of this death, it was
their choice, if it was indeed a peer- i chalk it up to
teen angst, nothing for you to carry with you on either
count, ...as far as what is your 'purpose' i believe it is
to keep writing your heart out and learn from these
things life throws at you, knowledge is something
worth living for and events bring wisdom,

hugs n' love nessa

Even though hate is such a draining emotion, if you have to hold any hate, hate her! The birthday girl's birth is something to celebrate.

It's a very sad story but the person who committed suicide is really the person that's going to have a bad day...like forever.

This is an emotional poem, it hits too close to home for me to properly comment on it without getting emotional myself.

We don't know why people do things or the pain they carry to draw them to the actions they take. There is no solace in death especially suicide. . . I only hope that the ones who survive can find peace and healing from their pain.

The lack of empathy in this poem is so strong, I can only assume that it is to make the opposite point. There's no way a birthday is more important than the reasons as to why someone should take their own life. Leaving spiteful messages is just a small part of a mind in turmoil. When someone commits suicide their state of mind is incomprehensible to most.
The last line is almost a contemplation of suicide, and I must admit, Scorpers, you have me searching for your train of thought here. One thing is certain: this has an alligator's bite, and it's gonna stay with me today.

What is your purpose??? hmm, I think there a line for that around here somewhere. Tim and I have numbers already! Don't worry I'll let you cut in line. That really sucks, and it sounds like it is still very raw. sorry for the painful memories associated with your bday. but it is YOUR birthday, the great Scorp. don't let em get you down!

The Night Light

she always had to burn a light
beside her attic bed at night.
it gave bad dreams and broken sleep,
but helped the Lord her soul to keep.
good gloom on her was thrown away.
It is on me by night or day,
who have, as I suppose, ahead
the darkest of it still to dread.
Robert Frost

Peace!

What a horrible thing to do to a child but Holding the anger is what she wanted letting go and living in the light makes you a winner and her the loser and actually is a better revenge.
Hugs,

...Jesus. I'd like to think i know your writing well enough to know your symbolism is never transparent.
But your metaphors reflect an emotion so deep and raw that one can't help but drown in them. I'm going
to take for granted that this "surface" truth is an overpaint and that the real pain; the profound torture this
poem depicts, can be exercised by cathartic writings such as this.

*hugs*
