This Summer

Contributed by scentless_flower on Friday, 12th December 2014 @ 11:16:00 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

It is hard to say goodbye.
I hate goodbyes so much,
that plenty, oh so plenty of times,
I have outstayed my welcome.

But saying goodbye to you,
is not going to be hard.
No. In fact, it will be
the easier thing I have ever done.

Because with you,
I have outstayed my welcome.
By a thousand centuries.
By a million smiles.
By a billion tears.

So I shall say, to you,
goodbye darling.
And I will never look back.
I will have no regret.

I shall say to you,
goodbye darling.
And the ground love,
it will not shake.

I shall say to you,
goodbye darling.
And the sky love,
it will not fall.

But once I utter those words,
once I tell you, farewell:
The leaves of trees,
will forever be yellow.
Like that autumn, remember?

Once I utter those words,
once I tell you, farewell:
The flowers will be forever now,
hiding in the soil.
Like that winter, remember?

This time of goodbye,
the sea will freeze,
the waters will always be cold now.
Just like they were this summer.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
