The Passenger....

Topic: ThankYouPoems

02:12:2014....

Today I say goodbye to an old friend.
Much time together we I did spend.
Yes it's with mixed emotions I bid you farewell.
I have many beautiful memories on which I can dwell.
Africa is a beautiful place to work and travel.
It holds many wonders to unravel.
It also holds many dangers.
That in its own could hold many adventures.
For as an Africa long haul driver excitement is plenty.
That one could not buy for a dollar or penny.
The nature leaves you undoubtedly breathless.
Everything you lay eyes on has its own freshness.
Here one can see God's Love for this earth.
And we need to appreciate its worth.
Some days brought tears.
Others brought fears.
Some days brought joy.
That could bring a sparkle to the eyes of a little boy.
In all my twenty five years.
I've experienced joys and tears.
But I could not have done it in my own strength.
If it were not for my passenger I'd have been on the bench.
Yes I always kept Him a seat.
His company is always such a treat.
You may ask who is the passenger?
He is God's most high ambassador.
The one and only Jesus Christ.
Whom protected me from many a heist.
In those deadly hours of the night.
When evil tried to harm me with all its might.
He also cleared my sight.
So I could observe a hawk's flight.
And brought me to my knees.
So I could see on a flower the bees.
And made me lay flat on my back.
So I could search the night skies for a crack.
Yet alas none was found.
Instead my discovery was profound.
God created a perfect place.
Then wrapped it in ribbon and lace.
Then gave it to mankind.
If you just look it would blow your mind.
This world we live and work in.
So beautiful it gets under your skin.
All thanks to the passenger.
God true messenger.
Thank you Lord for this present.
That was and is heaven sent.

RR

I love the title and the theme! No matter what angle we look at it from, the earth is a beautiful and magical place! Thank you for taking us on a drive with you to see the wonders in the things we often overlook.
You are wise for your years and appreciate what you have! That is rare and shows in your writes.
Good luck to you on your new journey, whatever it may be you will not be alone!

I agree with Softer. A wonderful piece my friend. I will share something with you- you are a living example of an exemplary human being. ( I knew one around 32 years ago, so fairly rare). Your living example of proper thought processes has helped me kick a habit I've been wanting to shed for years. See the poem 'Bad Bug Gone' posted this morning. I owe this in part to you, boet.
