What’s your sign he says; come here often?
You a sports fan? Me neither.
What do you think of this place?
Like the decorations;
You ready for Christmas?
Yeah, I work too. But ya hafta do Christmas.
You got kids?
No kidding. You don’t look old enough!
Seriously, how old are you?
I don’t believe it.
But I’ll drink to that…bring us a round over here!
Me and my old lady had 3 kids. All boys!
Course they’re all grown now.
Nah, they don’t live around here.
You got grandkids? Me neither.
We’re probably better off! (laughs)
Man, the cost of college today will kill ya!
I never went to college. You did?
Man, you must have been rich!
I’m just a working stiff. See these hands?
You can tell, right?
Oh, this must be your fella.
Hi man, just shooting the breeze..here, have my seat.
I’ll sit down here…no, no problem!
Hey, barkeep, another beer here.
I couldn't help noticing that you like the ball game..You come here often? Yeah, me too.

How did you know I did that? Were you stalking me? Where's the bug? In my ear??!!?? No wonder there's always a ringing in it.
Except you left out the part where the guy punched me.
Okay, serious now. I like the way this progressed (seemed) into a span of a life time and then came back to square one.
Thanks. It was enjoyable dear poetess. |

Talk is cheap, well said. Especially when diluted by a sleazy drunk.
I'll stick to coffee. Thanks for posting.

Love this one, it brings back memories of the small talk I was part of in my old beer drinking days. Now I often say thank God I done my heavy drinking when I was young. A hangover would be too much for me to handle now. Still it sounds so familiar just listening some drunk trying to carry on a constructive conversation. Cleverly written. |
