once upon a pen

the little poem had been penned
it dwelled upon a scrap of paper
residing near the hearth it feared
being forgotten and thus discarded
days and years passed by slowly
the frayed paper began to yellow
also a mooshed corner from the dog
it was lonely on the antique table
scary being one breeze from fire
thankfully logs were rarely burned
barely an odd feather duster twirled
once the little poem went flying off
through the air like a wanton bird
landing on a big fluffy featherbed
of course it was returned to the pile
naturally it wanted to be published
so it could be read by the masses
a pipe dream for a little left poem
so the little poem did what it must::

Happy Holidays. Loved this little story. I love how our poems do seem to posses a life and character all their own. they inhabit an eternal world, even wen destroyed physically they exist in our minds as we have read them and written them |

It leapt off the table with a thrust,
Bound out the door, and caught by wind gust,
Maniacally shouting; "Hollywood or bust!"
Hehehehe. Well, that was fun! ;) Thanks. Love the imagery in this one. I picture a very cheeky poem that refuses to settle for a life of dust gathering. Nice little 'choose your own adventure' type ending too. Two thumbs up for that, whether it was an intentional nod to the book series, and the late, great, R.A. Montgomery, or not. I loved those damn books as a kid!!!
Love, love this. Creative to the max.

what fun!!
It laid in wait; and softly laughed;
Launched into the window’s draft!
Settled itself on the mistresse’s chair;
That evening she found it lying there.
Pulled her glasses from her purse;
Inspired, she penned a final verse.
She gently tucked it ino her glove;
And gifted it to her dearest beloved.
Thank you Nessa!

The little poem took a stroll down the author's walk of fame
Engraved itself into her luxurious path
The author thought she lost it
Until she saw a group of fans gathered around something...
It was the little poem
Moral of the story? Your legacy fascinated the masses :)
All love

Nicely done, Nessa. I have to ask though- can you post the poem? the subject in this poem? I sure would like to see it. OR, is it a personification and therefore does not exist?
Well done.
