Hiding Behind Words

Contributed by kmec1990 on Tuesday, 25th November 2014 @ 03:23:44 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Confidence I sometimes lack,
fear of rejection runs deep.
Written words have become my mask,
true self hidden they do keep.

My face will not launch a thousand ships,
my waist attests to my love of chips.
My God given talents don't include singing,
or drawing or dancing, two left feet I'll be swinging.

Sports are not my ticket to fame,
too clumsy I can be.
So if you see me running give blame,
to the thing that's chasing me.

Comedy not my feature trait,
for the punch line long you will wait.
Sarcastic wit escapes my grasp,
causing more than one to gasp.

Big decisions cause great stress,
created by my indecisiveness.
Brave is not a word I would use,
to fight your battles another I'd chose.

But for all the things I lack,
of this you can be certain.
Throw my pen and paper back,
and another poem I'll be blurtin.

The power of the pen. A thing of beauty.

"Comedy not my feature trait".

I beg to differ with that third stanza. I had a giggle :)

This was an enjoyable poem, and I like the way you ended it.

Very enjoyable. Everyone has their talents and good poetry is definitely one of yours. I'm sure you have others.

This had me smiling!

Thanks,

Tim
