Retired Drifter Stuck on the Big City Blues

Sitting within these cabin walls the fowls out yonder run amuck.
Misery like a scratch in those hard to reach places wondering when everything went so wrong.
Was it wrong?
Was it like those rides where we get lost and drive for hours dreaming of a top down. World gone round. Poets going places leaving the words behind. Lost in transit guided by a strangers smile and the beat of some thoughtful playlist. An adventure to taste.
It is the fingers that muddle with these backwoods thoughts, blackened thoughts. Surround by nature wondering why I miss your punishment. I guess it became a game, aged scars from forgotten wounds pondering my skin. Finger nail history. I still blame you for world hunger, I can carry the rest.
I now have sheep in my yard. It would not really be such a big deal if it wasn't the city view I was looking at in but a month before.
I am a retired drifter down on the farm, singing my big city blues.
Life twists like the message in this rhyme, it makes sense for a glimpse then lost it becomes again.
I lost everything but the smile on my face, and I am ok.
Was never told life was easy.
Just a new taste of paradise.
A new place to open my eyes.

Such a winding road to lead us to discover by your example, that we can survive anything.
"I lost everything but the smile on my face"!
Your ending ties all the "twists" in your rhyme into a promise: "Just a new taste of paradise. A new place to open my eyes", and hopefully, your heart as well!
I look forward to reading more tales of your new life, be it blue or not!

where is Charlie I think when we need him
A simple table a small window to look out of
the blue bird sings
the city breaths in out
easy is hard but what is simple is
plain too dull to maybe contemplate
Drifter? You write like an english professor, should
use the capital but I don't
Bukowski the voice of a drifter who made me think differently about a whole lot of things once said,
If you're losing your soul and you know it
then, you've still got a soul to lose. And I believe such a truth.
Bet you have stories with those hands of yours
You should write them down what you still remember
This is wonderful writing my friend!
Thanks lostrelic!
Peace! |
