Cold Waters

Contributed by FireStarter on Saturday, 15th November 2014 @ 11:20:25 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I'm treading these waters trying to find my way
trying to keep my head afloat, while calling your name
The waters keep going up over my head
I hear them whisper to each other " keep doing it cause' she'll soon be dead"
Cold Waters

I'm sinking through the cold, stinging pain
Its felt like hours trying to whisper your name
I'm falling to the bottom with inch I go
Reaching up with my hand, it goes to and fro
Cold Waters

It's dark at the bottom, like someone turned out the light
I keep trying to swim with all my might
It's like someone shut a door leaving me out
If I can finally stop crying we'll have a drought
Cold Waters

These waters aren't what they seem
they're the tears that flow off in a stream
He's caused me pain without him seeing
stinging explosions throughout my very being
Cold Waters

And what can I do to end this pain,
what all mortals would do, but I wouldn't gain
To shout out his name and, feel o my body float
what would it be like to be a ghost
Cold Waters

I like your analogy of loss to drowning. Emotional undertow "It's dark at the bottom like someone turned out the light". Reminds me of the last moments of consciousness before the anesthetic kicks in…feeling as if someone is pushing me down through the table into the abyss.
"Cold Waters!" indeed!
Thank goodness you woke from the "stinging explosions", to write another day!
