We can dance you and I
For our souls are scuffed, and we
No longer are blinded by shiny newness, we can dance you
And I in a random queue where your blood shot eyes tell
Me the pages of war have left you in no mans land.
We nod to the silence of our own nights and dance with all the
Ears curious at our strangeness.
We can meet in our understanding but our handshake will be
Our hello and goodbye
It's been a dance
The tins are in order in your cupboard but the freezer
Is on in your bed.
I am special in no mans land
But the dance will end
You will fight your demons
And I will never return
But we danced

It was like a scene from a movie and they did not speak but knew what each had to say or think. Very vivid in imagery & sad. And I will never return put a lump in this reader's throat.
Love your poetry! |
