It takes, and it teaches
I see it tick away from the bleachers
And it passes and amasses
As shown by the lines on my face
On clocks and on watches
The same amount each day allotted
We are late, early, and hurried
By the ever present hands never replaced
As a young buck, my I saw my future clear
With visions of grandeur, oh dear
From penthouse to outhouse, all mine
I was just lied to, by time
Young, naive and romantic
To old, surly, and cantankerous
Back when, a greenhorn amazed
To present day and all those yesterdays.
Present day, lucky to be around,
For many friends and family surround
Through life's unwritten pages, I come a hackin'
One thing's for sure, things will happen
Dad says, count your blessings without a doubt
And when you don't have them, try to work things out
I wish I were a robust rock
That could break and rearrange the worlds' first clock
As a young buck, my I saw my future clear
With visions of grandeur, oh dear
From penthouse to outhouse, all mine
I was just lied to, by time

Time; that sneaky devil. Tick, tick, tick. There is no escape. It sure seemed endless as a child, but now it seems relentless. I like how you expressed this.
