Remember, brother, when youth was a small field
and the future the grand canyon?
A football player, an astrophysicist,
nothing was beyond our grasp?
Recall how far the ball flew from
the mighty swing of that ashen bat?
Recall the way the upper branches of that sassafras
climbed into the heavens,
and daring and freedom impelled us there;
amazed root beer came from this tree's roots,
a fort at the foot in spite of the bumblebees;
oh, memories these, so fine,
of such a time as the clock sighed in neglect;
the time when the world stood still
and brightened my eyes as much as I it.

Nostalgia, perfectly delivered. Great phrasing and vocabulary.'when youth was a small field, and the future the grand canyon.' And, how the height of trees to ones so small, compelled us to climb. Tremendous write, really. |

Perfectly said,those moments with your siblings is what you truly learn to cherish later on in life and sometimes we tend to loose that memory or our siblings do but there is nothing wrong with reminiscing...keep writing

There is so much loveliness in your memories of yesteryear.
I enjoyed reading this. Don't tell anyone, but I found the secret to eternal youth...Hang out with children- often!
Thanks for posting, gave me a smile.
