My Broken Gift

Contributed by Beyfoxman5 on Monday, 10th November 2014 @ 06:11:17 PM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Captive of my body
This thing has got me
Sitting here in chair
So begins the unfair

Thought so by some
blind, deaf, and dumb
Did he hear that sound?
How's he getting around?

My crossed eyes, gave me  x ray vision in disguise
From my first ectomy to my last otomy, my scars are my gift
A rounded silhouette of a man and his limbs belie
It's where spasticity forms elasticity, my scars are my gift

I'm surely not what you think,
Not your usual drink
Knock-kneed, what do you perceive?
Don't tell me, no need

Can't tell what I'm looking at
Don't stare, mom said that
It's in that split second
That you formed your perception

My crossed eyes, gave me  x ray vision in disguise
From my first ectomy to my last otomy, my scars are my gift
A rounded silhouette of a man and his limbs belie
It's where spasticity forms elasticity, my scars are my gift

Misjudged book and misread cover
Let me tell you what lies under
Your actions say 1000 words
More wrong than you ever heard

Come on over and patronize
You've been cut to size
Your high words won't work
It's the truth you jerk

My crossed eyes, gave me  x ray vision in disguise
From my first ectomy to my last otomy, my scars are my gift
A rounded silhouette of a man and his limbs belie
It's where spasticity forms elasticity, my scars are my gift

Great fourth stanza. I also like the repeated stanza that digs a little deeper into what makes you, you.

But this, (minus the typo), is something special:

You actions say 1000 words
More wrong than you ever heard

Keep it up.

I took hope in your words that give credence to the fact that we are what is in our hearts and souls, not what the outside has grown. I so enjoyed your write and was uplifted by it. Great write, P

Everyone has their cross to bear, I suppose. Some people seem to have bigger crosses than others though. Just my opinion. This person in your poem seems to have a big cross to bear but shows strength and conviction. That's what it seems to me. Ah poetry. Don't ya' lover when everyone comes along with their interpretation? I do.

Thank you for an enjoyable read and photo 1036153111_gif.gif to YPDC.
