Rhyme Jr.

Contributed by hauntedscorp on Saturday, 8th November 2014 @ 11:44:55 PM in AEST
Topic: ChildrensPoetry

On this earth lives a family in this spot
Just two tiny lives, no bigger than a dot
Here, in a place, where everything is awesome
*Huge grin* ...Your first smiley face picture...awe, son.

I got sidetracked, what was your question again?
Umm, say what. "Am I trained in the art of zen?"
Son; I must be excused, you have me confused
I don't know my taekwondo from Ninjago

I'm sorry, what. "Do I prefer Kai, or Zane?"
Who are they. I grew up on Batman and Bane
"Who is stronger?" Charizard, or Pikachu-
What on earth? How much does that cost...Pikawho?

Oh my. A list for Santa, started so soon?
It's only Boxing day, and it's barely noon...
Well, you have a lot of being good to do
Pardon me? Okay smarty pants. I do, too.

Dear God. "Where do babies come from?"
"Charlie said I came out your bum".
"When can I try a piece of gum?"

But...Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom.

**Author's note: This is my first poem attempt with my son. He is a rhyme and poetry lover like me. I asked for some words and themes to work with. He gave me:

Words: spot/dot, Zane/Bane, Charlie, Batman, taekwondo

Themes: Lego, Pokemon, "us", drawing pictures, "ask a question".

Thanks for the inspiration, big dude.

what an amazing way to write a poem! I couldn't have made a salad with those words! How clever!
Random, sand em, rhyme in tandem!
Cute and funny, you have captured the essence of the child speak…all over the place and all at once!
Marvelous! and hats off to parents everywhere! I'm exhausted just reading along!

got to say, reading this that it brings back the best memories I had with my first born son...
reading all the time together, think we borrowed all there was in children's book in the public library, really I mean that... I think it pays off, but careful now, there's this fuzzy thing called teenagers, when the poetry stops, and well, at least in my house, for a time at least, he closed up and thought I was a big zero...
wow, that time doth pass but it hurts the soul.
Anyhow, Scorp I imagine your Jr will someday be writing poetry somehow!

Peace!

You are a great mom, I loved this poem so much. what a great tribute to your son. Very very good Scorp. but shouldn't he be in bed, lol

My kids love Ninjago, btw. they are always telling me about it and I just nod my head and say uhuh. I have no idea what they are talking about. perhaps I should check it out

I just had to read this again. It's one of those poems that if you need a guaranteed laugh, giggle, and cheek hurting smile, this is where you come to.

Thankies!!!!
