It shouldn't be this way.
Like a bullet train,
Love only comes around on occasion.
Dropping off a smile,
Or the rare copulation,
You would think sex is an endangered species.
She holds me hostage with a precious cargo.
My children shouldn't have to suffer under the duress,
Of two broken adults pretending to be grown up.
Like a kid playing house,
We don't know what the hell we are doing.
Tomorrow nothing will have changed.
I'll go home and sleep after work tonight,
She will scream and yell at everyone.
Like the Queen of Hearts,
This is her court,
And off with their heads.
I tell you I love you,
But I don't know if that's even true anymore.
Your desires for me
Faded a long time ago.
Under a withering fire

Very emotive write that seems like it just spilled right out. Some powerful lines that ring true. Sometimes we stay with people for the wrong reasons, but those lines get blurred the longer we stay.
I like the Alice in Wonderland reference by the way.

Oh man!!! Sad. I've been there a couple of times and ya know....I'd probably still get married again if it felt right.
Very powerful with emotion this "rant" is. :) Definitely poetry in action.
Thanks,
Tim |
