Dust on the Bible

Contributed by Beyfoxman5 on Saturday, 8th November 2014 @ 12:54:46 PM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

Spend my days part of the unkind
An occasional smoke and drink for a good time
I've made up my mind to make a new start
I'm gonna be clean, I tell ya
But it's so hard to start

Somone tells me there's a book right there
That tells me the truth
But Do, do I dare?

And there's dust on the Bible

Should I take  my chances and be defamed?
So scared and lonely
Will I ever be the same?

With my blood still red and hair turning gray
Will tomorrow bring the same as today?

As I wake up in bed i tremble and shake
With the sun and rain I begin to awake

It seems that this book
Will shun the guard on my heart
I'm so deep in the dark
Oh, it's got me thinkin'

What if I read a line,
Oh no, I'll be fine,
I'll just take my time
And say bye

Dust on the Bible

As I get in my car
I drive into work,
I laugh,
I cry,
I think.

The pages of this book have never been torn,
I look to my right, and what do I see?
A horn.

i close my eyes and try to dream.
Am I really the torn, scarred man
That I think?

Dust on the Bible

This is so grand, I just was listening to the basement tapes of Bob Dillon, old poetry from the sixties put to music in Lost on the River , here I'll give a piece to you
http://www.npr.org/2014/11/07/361758046/to-catch-up-with-bob-dylan-t-bone-burnett-assembles-a-dream-team

the bible's okay, it's old it's written down
It's filled with symbolism and what sociologist might
call a story that reflects all that is, the creation

Well, the dust is what will be and you are not yet dust
It's okay to read the bible, it's fascination really

love and god and all these things you are a part of
everyone

we are all the same and all different
we are the jewels the compilations of all religions
we are the wind the moon and the stars in the night sky

You are a poet trying to understand
and I read poetry from days gone by

I like how you say the pages on the book have never been torn, or dog eared...

Here St Anthony had this prayer
about finding something you maybe lost

Say enough if you believe
If you have nothing else
why not...

I cut and paste it from the internet here because it's been so long, my mom long ago convinced me to
recite it once

And somehow it did the trick.

You see, it is about empathy.

And that makes hope and
yeah we help

If we do try...

Thank you for making me think!

Peace!

whoops,
Here is the St Anthony's prayer... I hope it makes sense to ya...

Dear St. Anthony, you are the Patron of the poor and the helper of all who seek lost articles. Help me to find what I have lost, (here name what you have lost)

so that I will be able to make better use of the time that I will gain for God's greater honor and glory. Grant your gracious aid to all people who seek what they have lost — especially those who seek to regain God's grace. Amen.
