Witness

Once more I've slammed a door tightly closed
A habit toward which my life's been disposed
How easy a beating heart can turn to stone
Becoming comfortable in time spent alone

Each day the sun deems to shine upon land
I wake in dank confusion; can't understand
Why some souls are granted a loving embrace
While others endlessly search for a single trace

Is it the beginnings from whence we started
Crossing bridges paved by those cold hearted
Some gifted with the ability to sense and know
With others destined to ignore a need to grow

One heart is granted the same as another
No difference defined be you sister or brother
We start the moment based on one shared plan
What divides is interference governed by man

Walking away to avoid the negativity created
By us trying to mingle lives obviously ill-fated
Memories falling in tears quickly fading away
Evaporating in steam with nothing left to say

Watch the moon grant its light to a falling star
Trod the earth as it cradles dreams from afar
Even as we are promises only souls can see
Some bear witness to what's not meant to be

A deep and insightful poem. Most well done and appreciated by me!

Very cool...sad, but cool.

Any time I've seen you posted a poem, I think "Oh cool".

You seem to write so effortlessly. Very impressive. Such a sad poem though, yet, even in this, you make beauty.

Love this line: Watch the moon grant its light to a falling star.

wish the best for you.

Tim

Deep, and thought-provoking. I'm well into your poem. I got life's number long ago, and came to the conclusion: never start from the premise that life is fair. Top poem, thanks.

Hello there

As always the style grace and flow of your writing is impressive. The message is heart wrenching. It is so sad that this should happen to people never the less it does. Yes there are people out there that will prey on others. Like a leach latch on to you and suck you dry. Might I offer my humble advise. I've learned that if a person can't add value to my life then they must go. I don't ponder or hope that after the first time they let me down or hurt me it won't happen again. The best reference for future behaviour is past behaviour. Yes every man has the right to change and improve them self however they must first change before they are let back in. It is very sad that one must go to such extremes to protect oneself but it is vital. Surround yourself with people that you mater to as much as they mater to you. God bless be strong I know it ain't easy but you have tons of friends on this site that could just as well be family they care so much for you.

Greetings
Rus

beautifully penned, some of humanity is just 'out there' there is no hope
nor excuse for willful stupidity, i fault no one for lacking knowledge
unlearned tho where ignorance is a 'choice' i have no compassion,

hugs n' love nessa

I always think life is like a hand of cards. At first you have no idea what you have been dealt, then you realise that you have to play with the deal you have been given.
Some people get dealt a winning hand, others a losing hand.
I just hope those who breeze though life without a care can appreciate those who struggle.

Steve
