My Idea of This God I've Heard

Contributed by Invierno on Saturday, 1st November 2014 @ 08:49:26 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

When peace falls in pieces
and shards of happiness take on jagged edge,
the flight of soul in search of light
stumbles on craggy ledge;
when the face staring out the window
at blackest night comes back at me,
the smile that I want to feel
is reflected in the frown I see.
When dawn's light caresses eyelids,
stroking me to wake,
I lie in bed in downy armour
not ready to engage the day.
To move and act, such effort be,
surely this gripping lethargy
is not the man I planned on being,
but as time goes past it's all I'm seeing.
I'm not blind, I've all my limbs,
my strength is strong, my heart beats fast,
but as the days pile on themselves
I gasp for breath, I beg, I ask.
And who? Who, or what to prayer I bid?
My idea of this God I've heard,
not found in church, or pious claims,
I find God amidst the chirping birds.

that opening line is righteous! and then the second one hits just as hard. damn winter you came out swingin'! and that ending!!! this is fantastic, i am much jealous, lol. I too have problems with the God of religious ideologists. and although i am no atheist I do miss hitchens, what a man, what a stellar human being

you are a true poet at heart, of the most endearing kind, one to see
confirmation and truth through your window in birds, so beautifully penned,

hugs n' love nessa

God is how you see it. I believe God is good and good is god. It's an all powerful being and it's not a man.

We are in purgatory. Our soul knows be we don't yet because the soul isn't the same as we. Get it right, you move on to heaven. Get wrong, come back. Get it real wrong...hell. The shadow people know!

Okay, I'm yammmering.

The poem...perfect poem, poem that is perfect...poetry in action. Awesome write...right? Right. :)

Tim
