Sit! and eat your hate
that’s your portion on the plate
I didn’t spend all day preparing,
that you could turn away from sharing
warm now, or cold tomorrow,
you will finish your pain and sorrow.
Eat! what’s wrong with you?
guilt isn’t tough to chew
shame goes down smooth,
unless your ego’s easily bruised
wash it down with cool despair,
only then you’ll leave that chair.
Quiet! no sobbing allowed
anyone can be fierce and proud;
fancy words and delicate thoughts
don’t fill the belly when distraught
so choke it down when able,
that’s what we eat around this table.
