Separated From My Friends

Just thinking about some friends
never realizing I would miss them so
Moments we shared together were great
the time flew by and it was time for me to go
We didn’t spend every day together
but were close enough to go for dinner or a drink
Now we are an ocean apart
it is often I find myself to just sit and think
Memories were once again created
I have photos to look at, when I feel the need
I know our friendship is forever
no matter how far apart, that has to be our creed
There are friends
then there are those special friends we have so few
If you’re a special friend to me
this poem will mean something to you
Talking about our childhood
and all the things we did for fun
We only keep getting older
having many stories to share with a daughter or a son
To the special people that have been in my life
just know, to forget you, is something I could never do
I may be across the big blue ocean
but, about you all, I share my stories too
Next time you go out to dinner
have a drink and make a toast to us all
Keep me in your memories too
and our friendship will surely never fall
