Well Well Well

Contributed by deadreckoning1983 on Friday, 24th October 2014 @ 04:12:46 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Long cold quiet walks,
Brisk and crisp in the fall.
Remembering the life of my youth,
Like a shipwrecked Pinocchio.
I was clumsy and self-deluded.
Easily swayed in my naivety.
I seem more and more Utilitarian,
Like a raging bastard in traffic.
I'll slit your throat to get one more car length ahead.
It's a race dammit,
And you better stay outta my way.
I'll break those beautiful porcelains,
If you so much as cross me the wrong way,
Or on the wrong day, at the wrong hour.
What the hell do I have to prove?
I'm like a cock in a cockfight,
But nobody gives a damn about the outcome, but me.
There's not even another cock to fight.
It's just me and my what ifs and I shouldas.
Living in the past with the dream of a self not realized,
Is really sketchy.
He is always demanding my time,
To ponder the possibilities of a life that doesn't even exist.
Or the best way to continue living without giving too much effort.
When did this happen to me,
How did this happen to me, to me?
I love it when my kids say nobody did it,
Oh it was nobody huh, that jerk again?
Well it looks like I have nobody to blame,
Nobody but myself.
Now lets get down to business,
Brass tacks, right?
What does that even mean?
Nose to the grind stone old boy,
Do it, and do it right this time.
I need you, they need you.
Don't *** this up.

A great topic. I've written of the same. I really like the line,
"I'm like a cock in a cock fight,
But nobody gives a damn about the outcome, but me.
There's not even another cock to fight."

Very cool and well done.

look for a message from me.

Invierno

The imagery is rampant in this envious write you have penned, but I love those lines especially. Feeling 'stuck' or like your potential has been misused, or expired, is a daunting thought. It can rent some serious space in the ol' brain and render us powerless. Hopeless. Never a good place to visit for too long, so keep that momentum going and push on out of there.

I enjoyed this a lot. Thanks for sharing.
