The True Value in Life

Contributed by invierno on Monday, 20th October 2014 @ 02:22:01 PM in AEST
Topic: AnniversaryPoems

There is no china from Belgium on our shelves-
no brand new car in the garage,
no pool below the ground outside,
no sterling that we have to hide.
Our bank account is danger free
from no coverage from the FDIC.
Our clothes don't have pony's on them,
our dog is not of rarest breed.
Our table may be wood it true,
but not walnut, cherry or teak hued.
The treasures that we build and make
are the kind our souls to God will take.
Our love is worth a thousand cars,
our joy can't be found in any bar,
the light we have burns bright and true-
my most treasured thing in life is you.

So very sweet! Happy anniversary to you both, and wishing you many more. Your title is very apt- material things mean more to those lacking in true joy- love. Wonderfully expressed.

Perhaps the highest compliment I can pay you is that when I scroll through poems and see your name; I stop and read. And you scarcely disappoint. Nice poem.

Dear Mike

First happy happy anniversary to you and your wife. You both are very rare gems. This I can see in your poem. Good breads good.

This piece brought tears to my eyes. In this day and age it is a very rare thing to see this kind of love. May God bless you both and keep you on this beautiful path. Believe me when I say the rewards are far reaching not only to you both but to your kids as well. One of the things that makes me the happiest in life is the fact that I can say. My mother and father were together till death.

This is a beautiful and loving tribute to the one that completes you my friend and it is well written as well. Great job. God bless

Greetings
Gert
