We're Still Alive

Turning around you walked away from me
Throwing me just a shrug and a smirk
How did I not feel? Why did I not see?
I thought it was once a beautiful work

I reached up in hope that you could help
Although I knew that we were no more
I looked up, in front of you I knelt
You knocked me back down to the floor

Eating myself alive on the inside
Why did I never see your other side?
Wishing I could just fade away and hide
Why didn't it ever show on her outside?

Days turned to weeks, now a long time ago
I don't trust you, who or what you were
Things you said seemed only for the show
Anything, everything, I'm just not so sure

Thinking about each and every breath
I felt my life take a fatal dive
Sometimes we need to feel like sudden death
Just to let us know we're still alive

We're still alive.
