Helping Our Heroes

Contributed by waynster on Saturday, 18th October 2014 @ 07:29:46 AM in AEST
Topic: Patriotic

Why does our government pass up our Vets
to give homes to illegal’s from other lands
What kind of choice is that
it’s definitely in the wrong people’s hands

So many are homeless
and don’t have a job to survive
Mainly because of problems in their heads
wondering each day why they are still alive

Suicide rates are up
Veterans are taking their lives at a very high rate
Coming back from war
losing their families and any idea of positive fate

Many soldiers have seen deaths door
images forever stored in their mind
Struggling a fight within
having no way to unwind

We need to stand for our Veterans
as they have knocked on deaths door for us all
We need to start housing our Veterans
not the illegal’s that make it across the border wall

War is an ugly creature
it scars so many that have to fight
Let’s take care of our very own
giving them a home to sleep in at night

God bless any man or women
that has taken the oath and fought for our land
May each and every one of us
reach out and give our Veterans a loving hand

The least anyone can do is have compassion --especially on those who went into harms way. God bless our Vets and our Nation.

There is no question that we must give back to those
who went into harms way, ever...
Doesn't matter how much it takes, it would never
should never be too much...
On a different score, the folks who cross through the devils nightmare of a desert to work in the fields and be underpaid
Are real people as well. We must not turn our backs on them, but rather, figure out a way to help them.
I'd rather we helped people in the America's than so far away. There is so much we could do but don't.
Why do you think they try to get here, those living in poverty, why do they sacrifice so much?
There is so much here we, all of us collectively have not done here in our own land.

No we should never turn our backs on the men and women who served our country --- and for little pay.
Great poem, because it's a reflection on what has been missing here in this country for far far too long!

Thanks my friend!
Peace!
