A Promise....

Contributed by RussellReinhardt on Tuesday, 30th September 2014 @ 04:43:01 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

17:01:2014....

A promise holds many responsibilities!
Dishonour it and face humility!
Once the promise is received.
Is this a licence to deceive?
May you nonchalantly go about your day?
Straying off the path in every possible way.
Remember you received it in trust.
So don't squander it on lies and lust.
The grass may seem greener on the other side.
Yet under that very grass many troubles hide.
Thou shalt not lie!!
This commandment was given why?
So that when you are faced eye to eye.
The truth you can not deny.
Remember you gave your word.
It hangs over you like a sword.
You only can bring that sword down.
And strike your honour to the ground.
Just remember both parties.
Carry immense responsibilities.

RR

I imagine you struggled with this piece for awhile. I think it spilled out just right...It seems to me that the subject matter could be about marriage. The ultimate promise, if you will. Some people hold commitment to a higher regard than others, and are unwilling to own up to their mistakes. I do hope whatever your struggle is that lead to this piece, is resolved soon. Stay open to possibilities. Change comes to those that prepare for it.

AS ALWAYS RUS, YOUR STRENGTH SHOWS THROUGH, AND YOU EXPRESS YOUR BELIEFS WITH CLARITY. WE CAN HOLD OURSELVES ACCOUNTABLE; BUT NOT OTHERS. THIS WORK I THINK, TRIES TO COME TO TERMS WITH THAT.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMITTMENT. AND FOR CARRYING YOUR BURDEN WITH UTTER ELOQUENCE BEFORE ALL YOU CALL FRIENDS.
SOFTERWARE.

As usual, you hone in on important points in life. Also, as usual, I enjoyed reading your poem, RR.

I hope you are well and finally got out of Tanzania. Ten days! Are those guys nuts or what?

Invierno

It's hard to be moral and I struggle to meet honorable people. I think as humans we might have become technologically astute but are in a state of regression in terms of character and substance.
