Die lewe van n drywer.
Die is manne van yster.
Nie net in die vlees.
Maar ook in die gees.
Ver van hul geliefdes.
Op die pad soms gerus.
Ander dae moelikheid met elke ding.
Maar hul gaan aan nie te min.
Ja dit mag jou verbaas.
Maar daar oor maak hul soms nie geraas.
Die lang ure diep in die nag.
Aan kap aan kap die klient wag.
Op RSG verby gaande groete vir hul pelle.
Ook brawe sielle op wiele.
Etienne die vrindelike aanbieder.
N vriend vir elke yster perd ridder.
Daar is manne soos oom Sakkie.
Met n geestelike voedsel pakkie.
Dan is daar ou Skaap.
Vir hom lag jy jou altyd klaar.
En n ander broer Wynkan.
Smaak my hy is altyd n man met n plan.
Daar is vele meer te veel om te noem.
Jakels, David Touws en ou Pampoen.
En ook Meerkat, Vettie en Show Them.
Almal vriende broers sal jy stem?
Hierdie is maar net n paar manne op die pad.
Van uit die Kaap tot in Pallagat.
Van die perre ry deur die nag.
Altyd op soek na daai extra vrag.
Ander weer baie moeg trap nou lappe.
Van hul stop vir koffie en n paar grappe.
Op naweke n poitjie hier.
Daar anderkant n vleisie vir die vuur.
Dis hoe dit maar gaan ver van die huis.
Maar genadelik tussen jou vriende is jy altyd tuis.
O ja en groete aan ou Cowboy.
Ag se tog vir hom maak dit mooi.
En hou die grill uit die gras.
Anders gaan die baas raas.
Hou ook die blink kant bo.
Jaja net so.
O ja en die rubber oppi teer.
Totsiens dan praat ons weer.

I bet this poem is amazing - my hubby being a trucker peaked my interest in your write - I just wish I spoke the language. P
