Fall Whispers

Contributed by shelby on Wednesday, 17th September 2014 @ 03:01:17 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

I heard her whispering tonight,
as I walked down the dark city sidewalk.
A couple of drops of rain pattered down
shorts on but a jacket over my tank top.

All the sudden it seems,
summer will be waving goodbye.
She is still holding on tight
but fall whispers to her as well,
"your time is about done".

The darkness is gathering quicker
Iv noticed fall has began whispering in the leaves.
I see a few different colors beginning
this year it is coming a bit early it seems.

I whispered back to her tonight,
"wait, wait for just a little while longer".
You know I do love you so,
but I need to play with Ms Summer
just a little while longer"?

This reminds me that I love the seasons; but not the transition from one to the other. Like a good snowfall, I want to awaken and find it covering the landscape…or find spring has sprung in my absence! "fall has begun whispering in the leaves" says it so well. To have a new beginning, alas, there must be an end first. I'm with you: Wait, wait for just a little while longer"!!
Thank you for this lovely wistful creation.

Hi there

I'm not accustomed to what you guys call the seasons. However I still get this piece and might I say its beautiful. I truly enjoyed reading this one. I on the other hand always want spring to wait. I love the winter I walk around with shorts on in temperatures of -5'c to -10'c my friends all think I'm mad LoL great write.

Greetings
Rus

Nice, Michelle.

It has gotten really cool here at time but now it's getting hot again. No leaves changing colors yet. Your poem brought me there, though.

Thank you.

Shelley, all the bargaining, it's like the stages of grief, isn't it? Still, worth the request.

from one seasonal poet to the other, S.
