One Is Only As Pure As Your Intentions....

31:08:2014....

One is only as pure as your intentions!
Look inside identify your motivations.
The word tells us we will receive.
If we go through life and don't deceive.

But look at yourself and ask this question.
Do you do good to gain the rewards mentioned?
Or do you do good?
Because it's in line with God's word.

You see if we do good only to gain.
God sees this yes He has a brain.
He will take instead of give.
And in confusion you will live.

Now I know this concept boggles the mind.
And we don't get it as if we are blind.
It's like the scenario of the chicken and egg.
Which actually came first I beg?

You say we are promised blessings.
Yes but you're not grasping the lessons.
What does the word say we should do first?
The very top thing on the list.

Seek he first God's Kingdom with all your heart.
Of the worldly things you must part.
The things that contaminate your mind and sole.
Take out those bad apples in the bowl.

Then and then only,
Can we reach out our hand to the helpless and lonely.
For what we do we must do out of kindness.
Not out of greed and blindness.

RR

You have hit the nail on the head, Russell. SO very well. It's as I've thought for many years. I guess God read my thoughts and plagiarized from me. (a little humour....why not?).

How true..so true my friend. One who is Godly has no need to proclaim him or herself as such. As you say, to do so is the antithesis of what God wants, which is a pure and humble heart.

Sometimes when I do a good turn for a stranger, I want to tell people. this is because of my ego, but I know I defeat the purpose of good acts if I tell others, and actually play into Satan's hands.

Thanks for reminding me the virtue of humility and grace. You are a very good man and I am the richer for knowing you.

Invierno
