I'm Sure The Saying Goes....

18:07:2014....

I'm sure the saying goes.
And the mere thought of it made me froze.
If you love someone set them free.
I never thought that would be me.
But alas I had to let go.
Yes we had to let go.
We couldn't see what we had.
Constantly we made each other sad.
But please don't be discouraged.
This story ends up in marriage.
Wait I'm getting ahead of myself.
And that was the problem Self.

So for some time.
You in your small corner and I in mine.
Two asteroids aimlessly flying through space.
Each participating in a different race.
Then along came fate.
And pried open the gate.
It decided to cut us some slack.
Brought us back on the same track.

I couldn't believe what transpired.
The pain burned in me like a hellish fire.
I knew I had to rush to your side.
When I saw you I broke down and cried.
For I knew then from deep in my soul.
Without you I'm not whole.
I could never go through life.
Because you're not yet my wife.
So many times I sat beside your bed.
Thoughts and fears mulling in my head.

Concealed in my pocket the ring.
Searching for the right moment I wanted your heart to sing.
My only desire is to make you feel so special.
It mustn't be some bland ritual.
Then came the day.
I wasn't sure what to do or what to say.
How am I to sweep you of your feet.
This is not some crummy deal on Wall Street.
I want to make you my Queen.
My heart was pounding I wanted to scream.

So on bended knee I popped the question.
Your eyes the face your expression.
I knew before you spoke.
Yes, my heart jumped up in my throat.
Shaking I slipped the ring on your finger.
I want to get you home we must not linger.
There is much to do.
A dress the church and a pair of shoes.
The honeymoon.
Heavens that couldn't come too soon.
But first I must make you my wife.
Together we're going to have a happy life.

RR

You didn't cry alone…pass the Kleenex! You have put us in your place, and invited us to experience every emotion, until I wanted to yell "Give her the ring!" "Then came the day"..HOORAY!--
If women don't realize what a fellow endures to cross that floor and ask for a dance…much less ask for her hand….we sure do now!! Thank you for taking us on a journey we have never comprehended…until today.
