selfstruggles

Stillness holds me
in the soothing voice of silence, broken
By the heavens unmistakable opening, as I am soothed
By the rush of rain, the out pouring and the drip, drip, drip
And gurgle of water filled gutters, and I am, "migraine
Awake!" in the, "never land"of exhaustion. the vice like grip
That holds my head in constant reminder of pressure
has lowered to a four on the,"stricture scale."Nausea
Clings, screen blares in intolerable screams of light.
As a moth I am drawn,I Obey the command of,"awake!"
And I know the price of tomorrow! Yet from within my very
Elemental nature,
tonight I am not my own!

I suffered from migraines for six years and I can so relate to them and the nausea that goes along with them. Additionally I would get horrible vertigo. I would have to crawl around sometimes just so I could move from place to place. Also, some people are very unforgiving with this type of condition. I don't know why...perhaps they think we migraine sufferers manufacture the condition. So, yeah, I can relate and sympathize.
400 mg of B2 & 600 mg magnesium lessened the burden. Plus a myriad of prescription pills until she (the neurologist) got it right.
"Tonight I am not my own". :(
Sorry you have to go through that...but again, I sympathize and in a way empathize.
Love the poem but wish it was fiction.

Perhaps only the migraineurs will comment, for, as Timotheus points out, those not so stricken often think its all in our heads. I share your pain, and recommend aspirin and Imigrin on top of the B2 and Magnesium.
Nicely done, for such a painful subject!

This somewhat reminds myself of my younger years between nineteen and twenty-four perhaps; when countless days brought about 'the migraine's' expressively pangful jack hammer treatment into my brain ~ Now days I just wake doing my zombie shuffle while still waiting as most her creation for, deliverance....Great poem intense but you know what, Northernlights, We've got 'Hope' just, got to walk through these fiery trials which, form Us.... |

I know that migraines are nothing to sneeze at.
Vascular head aches are terrible. and I've never had any more powerful pain. with the migraine and vascular. head aches. Thank God I don't suffer with either in many years.
I couldn't imagine that kind of pain.
Huggs, blessing, prayer,
emy
I'll never forget it either. |

Anna,
I can hear you screaming from here!
''And I know the price of tomorrow''
Too right! You have my sympathy from one who
experienced all last week, the gremlin of all
gremlins ........ Toothache!
How I wish I could come up with a magic
formula to rid you of this awful pestilence.
Alas, can only advise that you try the advice
already given.
Now why could I not write about my toothache
hell as articulately as you have for migraine?
My very best wishes for your speedy recovery.
