It's not that we know you!
nor ever could recognise the tone
Of your voice, but we know, what you did, for us!
It's not that we know what you went through,
Nor your suffering.
But we know you paid, the ultimate price!
It's not that you were family
nor have we felt the pride of a father, nor seen you, through a mother's eyes.
But your gift, is our future.
We have not felt the pain, nor the true cost of your sacrifice.
But we feel, the gift, that you left!
For we know, for every moment your life denied
Our freedom,a remembrance of you, with pride!

I agree Nessa this is just beautiful. I myself served. To the poet I say thank you from those who perished for our freedom and there loved ones. Thank you for your appreciation of what was sacrificed even though you don't know the true price paid. Blessings
Greetings

Absolutely love the perspective you conveyed this to the fallen soldiers.
It's not that we know them (necessarily) but we certainly do appreciate their tragic sacrifice.
Your talent just blows me away!

Hi Anna,
A heartwarming and deserved tribute to all those
who fought bravely and gave so much, with
the lies of the politicians ringing in their ears.
''The home fit for heroes'' promise was a
travesty of the highest order.
