Caterpillars, cute and fuzzy,
roly-poly in delight,
curling on a finger stretched
to a laughing child's sheer delight.
Soft and gentle, multi-legged
round and round they go-
but at some point, they leave the finger
and slink to where unknown.
Wrapped in bondage, self induced
they sleep (or so, we assume)
changing, growing, at last
showing-
breaking crust, emerged anew.
What is this?! Long body gone,
in place a thing of wings to lift abourn-
our caterpillar called no more,
takes to sky and seen no more.
