Mouse- never to move or scamper lest I give command and flow,
Stapler- inactive to punctured action 'ere I stamp with blow,
Paper- lifeless always, but capable to mighty things,
Pen- in concert with the paper-married they can sing.
Phone- idle, a dead thing, but lo! It lives to me upon its ring.
Modem- link to global info highway, tiny little box.
Lamp- shaded, switched at my behest to light the way-
Keyboard- dumb and silent, but for finger's tap unlock.
These objects- equally at home with me or the city dump,
All at my bidding wait, to create much or none.
All day long I stare at them, more so than my wife,
Inanimate a part of me, whilst my loves beyond closed door.
I fear I have it wrong, alls the pity more.
