The Story of Raine

Contributed by codeofcohen on Thursday, 24th July 2014 @ 07:50:27 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

She came as I was alone
One savage new years eve
And told me of her lover
And how he would decieve

She told me of her illness
And begged one thing of me
That I would keep in touch with her
And never leave her be

He loved her whole half-heartedly
Perhaps he looked ahead
I long forsaw the blood I'd draw
Lying in this very bed

I tried to kiss her tears
From thousands of miles away
Blinded by my own at night
And by sorrow, blind by day

The lightning struck the pair
He dropped his lover's hand
And she had her arm locked in mine
As I helped her to stand

She held the knifes hilt
The blade within my back
And tripping me up with guilt
I drank until came the black

I doubt that I endured
Rock bottom cant be surpassed
Deep within my mind the knowledge
That this could never last

A brother fallen I enquired
Her state and was she well?
He cried to me and begged
For God above the bring her hell

The feelings that arise
Are too numerous to list
Of what goes through your mind
When you discover the one you live for does not exist
